LUCADA First Annual Report

This is the first annual report from the Lung Cancer Audit (LUCADA).The National Lung Cancer Audit began with a small group of early users in England in January 2004. After this initial testing phase the audit was opened up to all hospitals in England with steadily increased levels of participation throughout the rest of 2004 and 2005. This first annual report presents the findings collected on registrations with a date first seen during 2005. It includes data on levels of participation, data quality and completeness and a basic analysis of the demographic data. The report also includes some data from the parallel Welsh Lung Cancer Audit.

The overall aim of the audit is to provide comparative data about the incidence, nature and treatment of lung cancer, from this information differences in incidence and outcome can be explored with the ultimate aim of improving patient care and outcomes.

The analysis for this report was undertaken by the Cancer Registries: Ruth Jack and Henrik Møller at Thames Cancer Registry and Catherine Thomson at West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit.
